: Ok, I finally did a couple of henna designs, I mixed the henna with
: lemon juice sugar and a little water. I cant seem to get really
: skinny lines..Is that something that takes practice?

The size of the line depends on two things- the size of the
applicator, and the speed you apply. Faster speed, thus thinner
lines, can be developed with practice.

Also are you
: supposed to touch the skin with the applicator?

I'm told no, but I do anyway. When you touch the skin, you somewhat
flatten the line, and you risk not having enough coverage for the
stain. Ont he other hand, if you're too far off the skin, sometimes
it doesn't stick, and you get loopy things off everywhere.

I am also having
: problems with the henna bleeding onto the skin beyond the lines
even
: with the lemon/sugar mix wich makes the lines look fatter.

Sounds like your paste is too thin. A spoonfull should reluctantly
glop of a spoon when held sideways. It should not drip or come off
in anything but a glop. If you put a line on your hand and tap near
it, nothing should happen. TRy mixing a bit thicker.

Then when
: I take the paste off after 6 or so hours it is a bright orange then
a
: couple of days later turns to a brown color. I thought henna was
: supposed to be a reddish color. Thanks in advance for any help.
: Sincerely,
: Lisa M. Charron

Henna is a bright orange at first in every case. Later, if very
fresh, like you just picked it, henna is red. Meccan henna is bright
red. For those of us living in the USA and not owning our own henna
plants, henna is reddish-brown to cherry-black. Some say that cloves
will help redden it. I don't know. The above picture is about the
reddest I've gotten from an imported henna.
