My number one recommendation is, that if you want to add any kind of wrap or sealant to the mehndi, make sure that it is _completely_ dry before applying it. If I ever need darker stains, I usually put in on a day-or-two old henna design. With a little practice, you won't get weird double lines when you layer your stains, but it definitely helps darken a design. Someone on this site has also recently mentioned the strategy of filling in henna patterns with very watery henna. ~Rupal
