Cringing from "black" hennaPosted by Sarah on August 1, 2001 at 23:33:55: EEEEEEK!So most of you have probably read my rants so far about hating working at walmart cause people look at my hennaed hands like I"m an alien or a leper, but today I had a major geekout! Some woman and her daughter came through my checkout line and the mother asked if it was henna on my hand, I told her yes. Her daughter showed me a BLACK henna design she'd gotten on her ankle that had only been there for five days or so and was already fading. They were shocked that the design on my palm was almost 4 days old and still vibrant and dark. I gave them the "black henna is dangerous" speech but I don't think they heeded my word. They had gotten it done at the beach... I don't remember which if they did tell me, but God does it make me worry. You would think that any self respecting person who wanted to call themselves a mehendi artist would at least use safe products!! I'm appalled. The gal obviously didn't have any adverse reactions, but we all know PPD is a transdermal toxin. *is still cringing from the sight of black henna on a human being, she's never actually seen it before* I'm wondering if perhaps we could get the word out to the press somehow about black henna... I mean in a big way since people visit beaches a lot and are obviously putting themselves at great risk! *gets off her soapbox and takes a deep breath* As Always, Sarah
