These like most henna from Indian grocery stores need lots of sifting and are often stale. If you have a large Indian comunity in your area it might be fresh. Afshan Henna from Pakistan stains very orange and looks like an orange highlighter. It doesn't matter how you wrap it or heat it or how many times you go over it, the henna is forever orange. Not red or brown. Afshan is orange but it will stay on the skin a long time. The Al Roosa Henna did not get very dark either but it was more red brown than orange. I think it was on the brown side. It might be better to use these on your hair. The only Indian grocery henna I tried and liked was Dulhan from India. It did need some sifting. I happened to find a fresh box. Dulhan and Reshma also might be ok for hair. Reshma gives you 200gms a box. Sorry to disapoint. Didn't want you to have to sit there warming your hands and wondering why it didn't work. I added Euc oil to mine. Didn't try tea tree. Natalie
