Henna on scars; henna on self-injuries

Henna stains scar tissue perfectly well!
If your scar is much paler than the surrounding skin, the stain color
will appear lighter than on the adjacent skin, because henna is a
translucent stain.
If you are not completely healed, and blood flow has not returned to
normal, or if the scar tissue is still glassy..... the stain may be
brief or poor.

I've had some clients who requested henna patterns up their arms over
razor and burn cuts left from self-injuries ... they wanted to henna
these to celebrate conquering depression! One has learned to do
henna herself, and now hennaes a large OM on her wrist where she used
to stress-slash. I understand some of the dynamic of self-injury as a
function of stress and depression, and seems to me henna can be
substituted for that behaviour in a creative and theraputic way.
