Yes, there are other tannins involved in henna other than just
hennotannic acid.

While I can't argue with the cost effectiveness of straight terpineol
.... here's a parallel:

You can make an alcaholic beverage with plain sugar, packaged yeast
and water. You can also take grapes and figs after a hot summer,
grown in just the right soli, utilize their complex natural yeasts, a
natural wood cask, the molds in a cavern, slow fermentation ... all
that jazz to get a wonderfully complex array of molecules to play
with your taste, nose, brain. .... and .... in the end would you
rather drink aged dry sherry or that other swill?

Complex, slow, natural and slightly unpredictable makes good henna,
good drink, good bread, and good sex.
