Well, since both mehandi, mehendi, henna, mehendi, etc. are all
translations and transliterations, don't sweat it. They're all
right, and there are about ten-thousand more names for the craft-of-
painting-the-body-with-henna which you'll find all over the internet.

Lucky for you, you've reached Henna central for the US and UK's most
Internet-addicted henna artists (or whatever we call ourselves). In
our efforts to find *the* best henna recipes, folks have come up with
various terms for henna strategies. "Terped" means "with terpenes."
Terpenes (correct me when I'm wrong, anyone) are aromatic (meaning
conjugated-double-bond) hydrocarbons which you find in lots of the
essential oils used in aromatherapy. Catherine Cartwright Jones, a
knowledgable artist on this board, conducted a great deal of research
and has determined that high terpene contact in essential oil really
improves the staining ability of a henna paste.

Lately the board has been experimenting with oils such as cajeput,
frankinscence, tea tree, pine, etc. to attain the best stain without
buying "mehendi oil," the contents of which are hard to discern if
you buy it off the shelf. let us know any other questions you have!
