My hair is medium brown now but there is still : some orange to it. If I were to put on medium brown for a few hours : this time would it make it all turn brown and NOT orange. Or would I : need to change it to dark brown to see any effect? I just bought dark : and medium brown henna so what should I do? When you say 'some orange' do you mean splotches or orange highlights? With henna you will get firey highlights. Also, you mentioned different shades of henna. What brand are you using? If it is Hennalucent, they offer a henna nutralizer. I have never tried it, but it might help. With henna the longer you leave it the more the color, but only to a point. It is a tint, not a true hair dye. A darker shade may make it darker but you will still have the highlights. I have only used the lightest color of hennalucent, the 'natural shade', so I don't know what they do to get the darker shades. Are they adding things to the henna? that may be causing problems. The first time my hair was hennaed it to about 5 months to wash out completely, though after 2 or 3 most people couldn't tell.( of course I am a redhead so the henna wasn't as drastic a color change). I would check into the nutralizer, read the ingredients. If it sounds like something you would be willing to try, go for it. Otherwise, a darker color might tone down the orange, but I wouldn't count on it covering it completely. WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT USE A CHEMICAL DYE TO TRY TO COVER IT!!!!!! I will be picking up some hennalucent on friday, I will check into the darker shades to see it I can find out how they make them darker. If I learn any thing more I will let you know. Good luck!
