: Ok. You all know that I edit for the DMOZ directory. I am supposed
: to organize lots of different "Bodyart" categories and I need some
: help from you guys to organize it correctly or, actually, re-
organize
: it correctly.
:
: Here's my question: Do you consider MEHNDI to be a form of
: BODYPAINTING? Why or Why not?

OK, every night I go out and "compete" with about 7 or 8 "body
painters". They all use body paint. I am the only one on the block
using henna. I must say the end result is pretty similar, but the
process is totally different. I would put mehndi in a category
headed "body decoration" perhaps, with separate sub-categories body
painting and mehndi.

My frustration is that I spoke with one of these body painters
tonight who has a very inferior product, (and a sloppy stand in a
great location) because he has a sign that reads "henna tatoos last
15 days" So I asked to see his henna, and he says that if someone
wants a henna tattoo then he will prepare it for the next night. But
in the meantime dozens of people sit down every night and get a motif
body painted on them, AND THEY THINK THEY HAVE A HENNA "TATTOO"!!!
His product only lasts 1 or 2 days. People come back and complain
all the time. When they see me they think mine will wash off in a
day as well, and I go into a long explanation.
And we wonder why there's so much misinformation about henna!!!
Tomorrow I'm going to put up a sign that reads "THE ONLY REAL NATURAL
HENNA HERE" or something like that. Grrrrrrrrrr
