August is VERY slow around here, but I did have two festivals (one
was a total bomb) but last Saturday was ok. Nothing great (it's a
new show) but I will go back next year...it definitely has potential.
I met three kids who had "BLACK HENNA TATTOOS" - they had all been to
VA Beach and the tattoos where like 2 weeks old (from the length of
time they lasted I'd say they were PPD) I talked to their parents
about the dangers and I don't think they'll get them again. I also
found out the guy used a "template" and charged like $10.00 and
$14.00 for each design (one was a frog and the other a scorpion) The
third had a sun around her belly button.
Here I sit doing freehand work with "real" henna, (and I'm not that
fast yet) and doing much more intricate designs - for like $5.00 and
$10.00 and feeling bad cuz I was raising prices to average $7.00 and
$12.00.
It just pissed me off....these "commercial" henna artists are putting
people in danger and giving us a bad name AND charging (in my
opinion) too much money for a damn STENCILED FROG!!
Ok....that's my little rant. NOW......

Does anyone look forward to the September/October months? We have
a "craft" booth that offers henna, kits, hair beading (and kits)
amulets, and flower art, oh, and some jewelry from India (CA stuff).
We are booked solid in September and October and I'm sooo excited!!
It's supposed to be the big "shopping" time around here especially
for the craft and street shows.
