Events like this always turn me a little sour each and every time.
Here's why: I get in touch with whoever's organizing the event,
tell 'em I'm a henna artist and I want to set up there, and they're
always like, "Oh my GOD, I love that stuff, I havent had ANYone offer
to do that this year! YES, please come over!" So I hang up the
phone feeling just tickly-thrilled.

WRONG! I get to the cursed event and there are like THREE or FOUR
other henna artists that have come out of the woodwork like roaches!
For small events this it's a really big problem. And for me as an
artist in this area, for local events, I feel like I have a right to
know who the other artists are around here. You never hear from them
any other time, you never see them any other time. Type in henna in
Tampa onto a search engine and you get my name, so who the hell are
these other people and why the hell are they always rude as shit when
you try to talk to them?

Sorry, I'm ranting, but these lovey-dovey neo-pagan festivals really
get my goat because the only people the vendors are vending for are
the other vendors. They are hardly ever well advertised, and chances
are there are going to be at least a couple of other people there
doing what you're doing!

When you're contacting these people for the gathering, try to find
out as much as you can if there will be another henna artist.
