Hey you guys I got the attention of Health Canada. Hope you don't
mind CCJ but I put the address of one of your PPD pages in the e-mail.

Khoa,

We appreciate your comments on the potential health effects of PPD
and I want to
assure you that I will circulate your message to the poeple within
Health Canada
that are responsible for the evaluation of such products.

Thanks

Subject: para-phenylenediamine

To whom it may concern,
I am writing this letter addressing the toxicity
of the
chemical compound known by the name para-Phenylenediamine or PPD.
Commonly used
as a hair dye, this chemical is also being used as a medium to dye
the skin
black, a new trend known as "black henna". Henna only naturally
dyes a
red-dark brown colour, and does not under any circumstances dye jet
black. PPD
as you may already know, is a transdermal toxin, that is known to
cause severe
pruritis, kidney and liver damage, and blood poisoning. After being
exposed to
enough ppd, or having a reaction, many people are sensitized to PPD,
and are
unable to use products such as hair dyes, sun screen, certain
clothing and must
avoid sunlight. Refer to
http://reverndbunny.sphosting.com/mediappd.htm
for complete information on Para-phenylenediamine, this page has
been
constructed by Catherine Cartwright Jones with the help of doctors
and victoms
of PPD. Please understand that pure natural unadultured henna has
been used in
India, Egypt, Morrocco, and africa for thousands of years, and very
few are
allergic to henna itself, but certain ingredients in the henna paste
( the paste
is the result of henna powder being mixed with other ingredients such
as lemon)
lemon is an absolute must in henna, but ingredients such as PPD are
also added
to make it black or darker. As a canadian citizin I am worried for
the health
of young children, and teens from being scarred by PPD, as this age
group is the
main demographic which PPD users are targeting. If this is not the
right person
to address this issue to, please redirect me to a better suited
person to
handle this.

Sincerely,
Khoa Tran
