Sections of "Medicine of the Prophet" have some wonderfully sensible
advice: (al Tirmidhi) "Four things form the way of life of the
prophets: marriage, the toothbrush, perfuming and henna."

Sounds good to me.

(The same source mentions that the Prophet greatly discouraged
intercourse without plenty of foreplay.)
