is henna powder toxic to cats?

My cat has recently discovered my stash of henna powder. I had
a small plasic bag of it in a canvas pouch, and the whole mess
smelled very stongly of henna. He played with the pouch (I don't
know how long he had it). When I found him, I took it away, but
he looked at me like I was taking away his favorite toy. He was
acting like he had a bag of catnip.

Is it ok for me to sew a mousie and put crushed henna leaves or
henna powder in it? I use only pure henna ... no additives, no
essential oils (until I make paste for me), no colorants. It's just a
natural henna that stains a pale reddish brown on my skin.
