I always freeze my unused paste but only after 48 hours after adding
the eo's (I use tea tree oil). I have still gotten decent stains up to
2 weeks later-at least as nice as just power, lemon and sugar at it's
best. I haven't really tried longer, I've usually used it all by then.
Maybe the frozen plain paste just doesn't last as long as terped? Or
maybe freezing it before you add the eo's is causing the problem?

: Here's what happened this time-
: I took some henna out of the freezer and let it thaw all day. It
: osmosed through the bag and stained my countertop. It had been mixed
: and then frozen immediately less than a month ago, using only lemon
: juice and sugar. That evening, I mixed it with the appropriate
: amounts of cajeput and cardamom EOs. In the morning, the cajeput
: semed to have overpowered the cardamom, so I added a bit of Myrrh to
: help with the smell. I first applied the henna to hand and foot
: about 12 hours after adding the cajeput oils. It never quite dried,
: seeming still tacky after an hour or so. I removed the paste to
find
: a light orange stain not visible from 10 feet away. I waited an
hour
: and reapplied and left it on for about two hours and scraped. This
: time it was slightly darker but not what I'd expected. Overnight it
: developed to a reddish tan. I reapplied and waited another two
: hours, and scraped to reveal a darker reddish tan. It hasn't
changed
: color in the day since. I just put some more on to see if maybe 36
: hours was better than 20, and it left no stain at all after 20 mins.

: Is it that I started with frozen henna paste? I have a really big
: show this weekend and I cannot afford to blow it, so i need to get
: this right and soon!
: Lauren
