You can use another type of container, but this method lets you go to Dairy Queen. Eat the ice cream, and wash and dry the container. You could probably use any old plastic container with a tight-fitting lid, like a yoghurt or sour cream container. Cut the foot off of a stocking and stick it in the container, stretching the edges well down over the rim. Put your henna in the stocking and add a few pebbles or marbles to help the sifting along. Put the lid on very tightly. Shake! And shake and shake and shake! When most of the henna is out of the stocking, pull it out carefully, and you've got sifted henna left behind! My less-preferred method, for a quick sift, is to put my henna in a kitchen strainer that has *very* fine mesh (they are hard to find but do exist) and shake it into a bowl. A flour sifter with very fine mesh might work too, but generally the mesh seems too big on those. This method is quick but you have to avoid the henna dust. :Guess I should have gotten Jed's : sifter whilst I was ordering, huh? You know, I got one and I don't like it very much. I know some people swear by them, but I swear at it. I much prefer the post-paste straining method a la Kenzi. I find the jed takes far too long to sift, even with a few pebbles thrown in to help. And it's kind of messy. I did better with my stocking-and-jar combo. Zimra, a bit loopy from the migraine meds, but hoping this made sense!
