If you're in a very arid place and have some epidermal injury henna may help the body heal itself by keeping the skin moist and flexible, and deter infection. Many plants are a bit antifungal and antibacterial, so that's nothing unusual. Though henna has been used for many other things, its mostly a "chicken soup" category medication. That is to say ... very comforting, very traditional, grandma always did it that way ... but probably not verifiably effective as a medication.
