The first system I found was brilliant, integrated seamlessly with frontpage 2000 so I could build everything using a program I was familiar with. Almost bought that but thankfully did a final check on the spec. Turned out it needed IIS running on NT, my host use Apache on linux.I then spent £170 on a package from PC world (Told you I had lost it!) only to find my web host did not support the obscure methods they chose for ensuring encryped access to customers orders. Aarrggghh!! The next task Is deciding what info you need to display. Again the one from PC world fell appart because its solution for a product with several attributes (ie small, medium, large,) was to list the product again for each attribute.. Not a lot of good for my body jewellery which has two or three attributes, each with a dozen options. I needed drop down lists which were not available. How many products you intend selling is another consideration. Some products will only do a certain number of lines. If its only a few then you can probably find a freebie on a suitable magazine disk. Finally how do you intend prizing the cash out of the customers? Some packages only support certain payement methods or organisations. In the end I settled for the shopping cart solution provided by Webfusion (www.webfusion.co.uk) my hosting company. At a tenner a week and no worries about getting secure servers to work it has proved a bargain, (although a real brain ache when it came to getting the look and feel to match the main site.) Have a browse round you newsagent for some magazines specialising in this area like Internet works. They always have some demos of shopping cart solutions on their CD's Hope that helps a little Baron
