: Would you think that the guy at Fox would want to hear about these
: people in Times Square and maybe do an update of his previous story?

Maybe. But .... he'd have a better shot as soon as we get wind of
injuries. Nothing sells a story as well as a vicious injury on a
child. (Daria's sick, sad, world revisited)

: I have another contact at ABC I could call on.

Go for it.

: The way it seems to work here in NYC is that artists can get an
: artist vendor's license

Mmm. this is a toughie. Venice Beach, Key West, Ibiza and suchlike
draw in tourist bucks from their "wild, free, trendy, hip atmosphere
...and the powers that be want the tax revenue from this ambiance.
The alternate is a "tightass, boring, safe atmosphere (like Stow,
Ohio) which draws absolutely NO tourist activity and has dead zero
ambiance. A "free atmosphere" it is absolutely "caveat emptor". This
would work if the "emptors" had clue number one. They don't. You may
be hosed.

.
:
: Essentially it is a three-pronged approach in which the public is
: warned of the dangers,

That would be wonderful ... but you have to have an intelligent,
informed, responsible and caring public. Keep tear-assing at papers,
TV, magazines, anything you can think of!

:the black death slingers are warned

Ditto intelligent, informed, responsible and caring slingers?
Ummmmm..... don't hold your breath, but you can try. Especially if
they're told they'll lose their license. We HAVE had MANY
turnarounds, particularly with women. Go for it if you feel you can.

:and the health authorities are warned.

Difficult, but possible. Some people who go into public medicine have
a passion that goes beyond their paycheck. That's the easiest and
potentially the best target.

: public, most of them don't care at all. A quote from a blacke-
: hennaed visitor to my henna table "if it isn't going to kill me I
: don't care!" The black death slingers sure don't care.

Sounds about normal. Damn shame they're all on public dole when it
comes to bailing out the health consequences. Sending PPD rants to
public health facilities is a start, because if they get wind of
people causing injuries, they're required to file forms with the
authorities, just like they have to file forms for rotten hamburgers
and abusive parents.

: health authorities don't seem to care or know what to do, if they do
: care.

This is truely sad. I understand that the health authorities are
exhausted, over extended and each of them has their own personal life
collapsing under the stress of dealing with crackheads, junkie moms,
etc, etc, etc. Your only hope is to catch someone who hasn't tanked
and ceased to give a damn. Watched "Bring Out the Dead" lately?

And i fear that the health authorities won't be interested in
: the subtleties of black henna vs. natural henna and will just shut
us
: all down.

Maybe. Pray to find someone in the system who is ethnically Indian
and who actually gives a sh*t about henna.

Perhaps a personal visit with someone who has the power
to
: do something could make a difference. Anyone had any experience of
: this?

The shotgun approach is a good place to start. Fire off 1,000 rounds
and you'll hit SOMEONE.

Last year at this time I was totally fried from spending all-nighters
digging for email lists of journalists, dermatologists, ANYONE I could
think of who would take a look at the PPD rant. I was damn near in
tears with frustration night after night. Ask Jeremy how trashed and
whipped I felt. But IT WORKED!!!!!!!! THE WORD GOT OUT!!!! BE
FEARLESS!!!! GO FOR IT!!!!!!

What have you got to lose? YOU HAVE HENNA TO LOSE!!!!!!
