Submitting your site to a search engine is not too difficult. In most
cases you will find a link on their home page for this. You can also
purchase/obtain programs that do this automaticly...Internet
magazines often have such programs on the cover disks, usually the
older version free with an upgrade offer.

Getting anywhere in a search engine is a bit of a black art though.
Its not a lot of good getting listed on page 112! I'm not about to
give away all my hard earned trade secrets but search engines look at
a number of things when deciding ranking.

The URL name, page title that apears at the very top of the browser,
how often the word searched for is used on the page, whether it is
hyperlinked at all and where and how it apears in the hidden metatags
containing keywords and page description.

Search engines also demote or even reject sites if they detect
attempts to skew things by cheating. So dont try typing henna five
hundred times in the same coloured text as your background. They are
wise to it and your site will get blacklisted!
