Experiment!Posted by Anne Beltestad on September 22, 2001 at 16:49:40: In reply to: Henna with Indigo? posted by Silence on September 22, 2001 at 11:51:38: Hey,When I first started with henna I thought it would be cool to use the black hair henna (*NOT* PPD; the stuff that has Indigo grafted into the henna plant, near as I can tell) and it didn't do much other than look like I had a fungus. It turned out sort of grey/blue/green and not dark at all. If you really want to play with it, treat it like real henna; I'd recommend trying some of the different recipes with real henna that are listed here. The "terped" pastes will give you darker and browner results. Different batches of henna (from different climates) will also give you different results. Play around, have fun, make sure whatever you're using is safe for the skin; I've heard indigo is not that good for you... good luck, Anne Beltestad Gilded Lilies *east* NYC : Hi : I bought some henna powder that is mixed with Indigo (Indigofera : tinctoria) to get a darker tone. Does someone know if I can use it the : normal way (with lemon juice and clove oil and leaving it 6 hours or : more on the skin) or if I have to treat it in a special way?
