McTribal? sliding O/T

I agree with that! If there is grace, genius and talent behind the
patterns and postioning (ie Alex's work) or scholarship (visits to the
Fowler Museum, and others with excellent ethnic collections, or
serious study into indigenous arts) .... "tribal" grooves!

However ... geniuses and scholars are followed by imitators, who are
imitated, who are copied, who are plaigerized, and on and on ....
until precious little is left. Discount drug stores have McTribal
stick-on McMehndi decals.

That's not unusual, really. Such has always been the case, though in
previous centuries, it wasn't so fiercely consumer driven. I wonder
what the "trendspotters" have snapped in their digicams to sell back
to us today, remade in shrink-wraped, sanitized, plaigerized,
dumbed-down, discounted, sold as a treat in a box of corn flakes.
Something, that once was an interesting, sincere, innovative,
individual gesture.

I hope its not harquus.
