Henna in Bozrah (ethnographic stuff)Posted by Lauren on October 4, 2001 at 22:55:53: I meant to post this sooner- when I went to henna the Palestinians, Italked with a guy who had toured all over that part of the world. He says that when you go to hospitals, most of the lower walls are stained red from women hennaing their hands and running them down the walls. He didn't know exactly why, but I would guess it's to lend baraka to the place of healing. He thought it was a mourning ritual but that seems unlikely given it's henna. Thoughts?
