Luckily we don't usually have all that snow on the ground at one time,
unless you live in the western part of the state. There they get a lot
of snow AND high winds. Usually they have to close the interstate at
least once a year. Glad I don't live there!

Summers can be the other extreme. I live in the middle of what used to
be glacial lake Agasi. In other words, we have lots of swamps. This
summer was a bad one. No rain for a month, we lost count of the days
over 90, record dew points, and it all started with near record
floods. Between the heat, humidity and blood sucking bugs you couldn't
spend much time outdoors. But the henna stains were wonderful! We have
a saying up here: its not the heat, its the humidity.

Normally though, we are in the 80's with a few days over 90. The State
bird is the mosquito, but they tend to only be bad from june to early
august, and that is mostly on calm days or after dark.

Do you get high humidity down there or are you blessed with a dry
heat?

I only just started doing henna this summer, so this is my first
winter. I have to add more sugar to the terped paste, or use
lemon/sugar to keep it moist. Then I wrap the heck out of it. My first
one doing this is posted below on the page or you can click on the
link. My second one I didn't keep moist while working on it and wore a
glove instead of wrapping, it didn't get very dark, except for the
finger tips, which I redid the next day. They got to be that beautiful
brownish red I have been trying to get. The tips lasted 5 days before
starting to fade and the rest started fading after only 2 days. I
shall have to see what works best as winter gets here.

If you ever need a excuse to check out Minnesnowta winters, there are
a couple of nice ski hills just north of me. Ever wanted to ski on a
extinct, collapsed vulcano? Did you know Lake Superior was a vulcano
millions of years ago? (do I sound like I work for the dept of
tourism?) Spirit mountain is on one of the inside slopes and I think
Lutsen is on one of the outer. My brother, the skier, highly recomends
Lutsen. It is a resort area in the wilderness, and not so over run
with tourists. Ok, the hills are bumps compared to Colorado, but for
the midwest they are big.

Try not to freeze down there, or more importantly, blow away!
