: After applying henna to nails what do you do as they grow out? Can
: they be re-hennaed?
If you reapply henna to your nails every week or so, the color stays
even and deep. You re-henna the whole nail. Nails Pic'ed here were
re-hennaed at about 18 days after the previous henna.

: Is there a color difference in the newly hennaed
: nail and the older henna?
Re-hennaeing evens up the color....mostly. The part of your nail
toward the growth end takes henna better, as it is not as hardened as
the oldest, outermost part. However, the outermost part abrades the
most, and thus wears (think buffing tool) off. Reapplying henna evens
up the cuticle end of the nail, as well as evening up the fingertip
end where abrasion may have worn off some of the henna. In the pic
here, you can see a slight line where new henna took over old henna,
at about 18 days growth out from the cuticle. Overall, it's pretty
even.

:Does the entire nail need to be re-hennaed
: or just the new growth?

Do the whole thing.
I prefer to keep re-hennaeing the whole fingertip and cuticle, because
I love the color contrast, and I like not having all the little tears
around the cuticle. Henna seems to help that!

Terped henna, such as is done with Sirius Mixes (link below), DOES NOT
penetrate the fingernail as well as lemon/henna w/o terps! The terped
penetation is dark, but shallow, same as the skin penetration.
