Any ideas for old, dead henna?

I found a good sized bag of henna that had been left in the back seat
of my car for several months. It's been exposed to light, heat, and
generally abused. I was wondering, would it still be useful as a
hair conditioner? My husband has been wanting to try hennaing his
hair but doesn't want any color change. Would it dye cloth or paper?
