I knew that tourism crack would come back to haunt me. By the way, the
dryer that was chaseing me was the clothes dryer, I'm not sure we had
hand held hairdryers back then. this was circa 1962, after all. I
still have the bear in my parents' attic.

I haven't tried latex, yet, but am planning on trying it soon. When I
got my Catsle Art order they had it in their catalog, so when I order
next I will be getting some. For the most part I use micropore tape,
but there are some places it doesn't work well. Then I have been using
lemon and sugar(even with terps, only a few applications-just to get
it sticky) and traditional wrapping. I haven't really used NS that
much as I hate the smell!

My first henna was Kenzi's Moroccan. I liked it very much. I am trying
Castle Art's right now. Both of them give me about the same color,
normally. I think I got the red because I reapplied the paste. That
was the first time I had tried that. When I use up this powder then I
am going to try Jammila and see which one I like best.

I have a little cheat I use sometimes with geometric, compelx
symetricals and knotwork designs. I use a gel pen (gelly roll brand
works well). I will draw a few guide lines with the pen, if I screw it
up, the pen washes off easily with water or alcohol. The henna stains
through it well. If you wipe the design with olive oil after you
remove the paste it will remove most or all of the remains of the pen.
the rest usually wears off after a few hours.

My 6 year old son hit on a fun addition to henna designs. He felt that
the design on my foot needed the spaces colored in. He took the gel
pens and started coloring it in. It looked rather nice. I have had a
dragon fly on my arm almost since I started. I like to color it in
with the glitter gels sometimes. it's cute.

My husband and I are both hunters, not too avid, we don't have a lot
of spare time. Luckily deer opener is usually after the first couple
of freezes so the 'state bird' isn't such a problem! We have a bit of
a deer problem here. We have to put snow fence around our apple trees,
hardware cloth around the young raspberry plants and an electric fence
aroung the garden to keep the deer from eating them. Needless to say,
there is no 'awe, poor bambi' thoughts come deer opener. Regetfully,
they hide too well during hunting season, so Tim doesn't always get
one every year, more like every 2 to 3 years. And I haven't gotten out
since I was 6 months pregnant with my second child-5 years ago. I've
never gotten a deer, which is ok with me, cuz then I'ld have to gut it
and that is NOT my idea of fun. Think I'll stick to those pesky 'tree
rats' that ruin my bird feeders.

My son is really into vulcanos right now, I have a vulcano pinata
waiting to be painted and many sizes of little cakes waiting to be
made into a field of vulcanos for his birthday party. Last month when
we did a family outing up to Duluth( this was on Sept. 11th. I'm glad
my kids are too young to really understand what happened and that they
have good memories of the day, instead of bad ones), we told him we
were going to go see an extinct vulcano. he was a little bummed, not
because it is a collapsed vulcanic crater and not some hugh mountain,
but because there was no lava. He knows that extinc means it will
never erupt again, but he REALLY likes lava and hoped to see some.

The highest vertical drop in Minnesota is found at Lutsen Mountain.
Mountain, I think, refers to many millions of years and a number of
ice ages ago. The peak elevation of the hill is 1488 ft. The hghest
run is 1088 ft. Average snowfall up there is 114 inches-they have that
lake effect thing going for them.(www.lutsen.com) For minnesota I
think that this would qualify as a "mountain." We may not be as flat
as you, but we aren't far off.

I don't think we have any 'wild' prairie dogs here, but there is a
nice little prairie dog town at the minnesota zoo. I get a kick out of
the 13 stripe gophers(our state animal-that is why our college teams
get to be the mighty gophers-oooh, I'm so scared)that have gotten into
the inclosure and a now part of the 'hood. So, do you ski these bumps?
and do the pairie dog holes count as mogulls(is that how you spell
that?).

Hey, if I can figure out how to keep it from melting I will be glad to
send you snow just as soon as we get some. We are expecting flakes
come monday, so actual snow shouldn't be far off...

take care,
jolynn

: Hey there,
:
: You make me laugh. I love it. This last summer we counted the days
: above 100. It is a humid heat unfortunately. Not like yours I'm
: sure. I believe your state bird is the mosquito!!! I haev seen
some
: hunting shows where the guys wear bug proof suits. (My boyfriend is
: an avid hunter.)
:
: You do great work. Especially for just starting. You must be one
of
: the naturally talented people. I cannot draw to save my life. I am
: not giving up, but finding more ways to cheat. I love your pattern.

: The color is great also. Have you ever used Latex? I used to use
: New Skin, but it is difficult to remove. When I ordered some carrot
: bags from Amy @ Castle Art, she said I should try it. I really like
: it. It's great if you are not allergic. But they are right, it is
: not for real bendy parts.
:
: Also, haev you ever tried Moraccan henna? It is supposed to turn
: more red. I have some on the way and am very curious.
:
: I love to ski and what an experience to ski on a volcano. I didn't
: know half the stuff you told me. That is really neat. How hard
: would you laugh if I asked you the altitude of the mountains? I
know
: what you mean as far as bumps. That is what we have, with prarie
: dogs on them. Ever heard of those? We have some caves and thats
: about it. Nothing as exciting as extinct vulcanos.
:
: Well better go. Have some clients on Friday and have to start
: mixing.
:
: Send some snow when ya can and turn up that waterbed.
:
: So do you still use a hairdryer or did you trash it and keep the
bear?
:
: Lisa K - who wants to go skiing and feels awful bored now.
