someone from the French department here who needs quick $.

Babelfish gives me enough information to locate the passages that I
need to focus on ... so I can ask a translator to work up a few
crucial paragraphs rather than wasting time on page after page of
inessentials.

I'm familiar with the problems of someone writing to me with a
translation dictionary on their lap ... or babelfishing the
translation. One corset fetish client asked me to "make the next
garment with silk lace or pancake". "Pancake?" (what the hell kind of
fetish is this??????) several confused emails passed back and forth...
"Do you mean silk lace and crepe?" "Ah. Much better."
