Hi Tracy,

Dawn is right, KY Jelly or similar products work great for getting
hectograph pencils to transfer. Water just doesn't do the trick.

If you still have problems after trying alcohol or KY, try switching
the brand of tracing paper. Some papers are a little too "smooth" to
work well.
