: : ~Jewel~ - who is going barefoot at her wedding and inviting only
50
: : people ;) ...
: Will all those relatives allow that to happen????

hehehehehe ... I bet they won't let me get away with it ... but I can
still try. I told my mom I just want a 300 guests list, no more than
that. I have a feeling that LOTS of people will gate crash ... oh
well *shrugs* ...

:
: The clothing was very beautiful and fascinating. With a western
: wedding the couple may hold more than one reception (fairly rare)
ie
: one in the city the bride is from and one in the city the groom is
: from so that the maximum of relatives can attend. They will wear
the
: same outfits for each. Could you explain why the progression of
: outfits to the various of events?

A typical Malay wedding will include the night of "berinai".
Incidently "Inai" is henna in Malay. The night of berinai is
typically when the mother (or elder women of the family) of the bride
will apply henna on the bride. That was back then. Nowadays, the
bride will spend that time doing photo shots with 4 - 12 costume
changes (WHEW!). The groom will be there but he will normally take
the backseat, in the shadows, appearing only when need be (like they
need a man in the picture ... teehee).

It is not unusual to have a few change of costumes in a wedding.
Reason being to have a variety of different colourful costumes for
the photo shoots. Afterall, it's a once in a lifetime thing (for most
people, at least). The guests enjoy the variety of costumes as
well :).

As for my sister's case, she rented all the costumes from a bridal
house and that was in the package ie. makeup, hairdo, 3 - 4 costumes,
accessories, personal assistance etc.

:
: Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures. It is a beautiful
: glimpse into SE Asian marriage customs.

Thank you for your kind words, I wish everyone could be there! :)

Love & peace,

~Jewel~
