A fair review of Daniel's henna ( sorta long)Posted by Lauren on October 20, 2001 at 16:04:51: I wrote Daniel and asked him to send me a sample, which he promptlydid. I received one of tattoo-me.com's standard small vials. It was the brightest natural green I've seen in a powder, looking just- ground fresh with no dyes. It was also one of the finest grinds I've seen, as fine as Jamila and drier. It mixed beautifully to a very gloppy paste. When mixed with lemon juice and a bit of sugar and left overnight wrapped, it gave almost no dye on my stomach (neither did any of the others I tested at the same time) but on my finger was a deep red-brown which lasted clearly about three weeks with no care. It was one of the top four colors, all of them being about equal, the others being Castle Art's standard silver foil pack, my Moroccan, and a sample sent me by a company from Bombay that wants you to order 100kg or so to get a decent price, alas. It lasted a few days less long than the best two, which were Castle Art and my Moroccan. Cost is an issue- it is four times as expensive as Castle Art's silver pack and over six times as expensive as my Moroccan. When importing henna from overseas, you have to pay outrageous shipping costs which can double or more the price of the actual henna, while his from California has no shipping costs incurred at all. I wonder why something that should be a great deal less expensive due to shipping costs alone is so much more expensive. Also, I have concerns about his advertising methods, which try to promote his henna by puttig down others, by giving unproven comparisons, by misleading others using the name of Info God to assume authority, by using this Forum solely as an advertising space and not to share information, and at one point at least, using other people's pictures on the website without their permission or credit. I don't know if the last has been corrected. If so, I apologize. The henna is definitely some of the best there is, no doubt. It's the other stuff that comes with it that I'm concerned with.
