Scott Anderson is an excellent journalist.
I've read several accounts of women who were hennaed prior to Suttee,
or suicides who hennaed for their death. This account is more
specific about the mentality of deliberate death, and is fascinating
for that. I've known several young women who have starved themselves
to death, or to coma, and who fell in love with death. Lots to think
about.
