Hey Kalila! Where are you and your friends going in Florida? I'm in
Tampa and there are others of us on the Forum from the Sunshine State.

Here's my henna recipe for a busy weekend out on the town:

two heaping tablespoons full of henna (been using Jamila lately)
enough squeezed strained lime juice to get the paste mashed potato-ey
cane sugar syrup (hard to find out of the South, so just use regular)

mix all up in a glass bowl and cover with saran wrap, let sit over
night...

next morning I add about two teaspoons of cajeput essential oil along
with a few drops of geranium or cardamom to get it smelling yummy. I
blend all this up and strain the paste through a stocking and into a
ziplock bad... I'll let the cajeput do it's thing for at least the
rest of the day before it's ready... some folks say the caj takes two
takes to get its mojo going

Despite the terpine element the cajeput introduces, which will darken
henna a heck of a lot better than eucalyptus (or nothing at all), the
best aftercare (I think) is lemon juice and sugar and heat applied to
the area, hand held over steam (add some cloves to the pot) or a
microwaved bag of rice placed gently over the area after the henna is
dry, put a towel between the henna and the rice bag.

If you want henna to be long lasting, leave off the cajeput, use a
little eucalyptus for smell if ya want, but you don't have to put any
oils. Something about the cajeput (or tea tree) makes the henna
darker, but not as long lasting, so that may not be good for all
situations.

I hope all this makes sense! Mixing your own henna is hell easy,
babe! Just go for it!
