CCJ and TerpinesPosted by Kim on October 25, 2001 at 05:03:13: I went to our local Ren Fest here in Texas this past weekend andtalked a little with the man who owns the Henna Tattoo tent. I had hennaed my hand and my mother's hand and ankle which came out with amazing black cherry color, when we passed by the henna tent Bevan, the owner, stopped us and asked where we got our designs done. My beaming mother told him I did them and he promptly offered my a job *blush*. I explained that it would be too far a drive to really work out and then he asked me how I got such great color. I explained (as best I could) the chemistry of terpines and henna molecules. He seemed very interested and wrote down some of the oils I told him had the highest terpines. I told him about CCJ and her testing (he'd never heard of Catherine...the man needs to get connected more) and he said he'd check it out. He did say he had heard about Cajeput from a friend in Ojai(?) CA. The name sounded familar...I think they sell henna. Anyway, it was nice to meet a fellow artist that was receptive to new things. He seemed truly amazed at the deep color I was able to get. Who knows, maybe when I go back to the henna tent next year I'll smell Tea Tree or Cajeput instead of Eucalyptus.
