From my experience with this kind of party, 12-yr old girls are
amazingly well informed about henna. Some may still think of it
as a temporary tattoo, but most know some of the history,
how-to, had it done before etc. For that reason you don't have to
do much to make this extra special. They are going to be into it
no matter what you do. You could spice it up by putting a little
glitter dust in the lemon-sugar (or New Skin, or latex) and having
them do their own lemon sugar. You could also make up extra
cones/bags/bottles for them to play with.

As for aftercare, I would add some more terps to my paste to give
it a little kick start and I would suggest that they leave the paste
on for 4-6 hours. That will give them a great stain and not
discourage them with the idea that they have to leave it on forever
and not see the results in the near future. You could wrap up
those who do bellies or backs esp. if they are going to try to leave
the paste on longer.

I would definitely bring your henna kits and tons of business
cards. Mom might ask the parents of the girls to stay for coffee
or something and you can give her a stack of your cards to hand
around. With her you don't have to do too much because she
has already hired you, but to ice the cake, you can remind her
that your ingredients are all natural and that you do your best to
give your clients the best experience, blah blah blah.

As for designs, you might want to put together an extra binder of
designs which you think teenage girls would want (if you know),
or just bring your usual books and study what kind of stuff they
gravitate towards for future books! I am always amazed at the
kinds of designs girls like; usually not powerpuff girls or anything
like that, but traditional flowery stuff. Pleasantly amazed. but that
may just be New York City girls. When i had chinese characters
in my book I got requests for those, but I took them out because I
felt that I couldn't vouch for their accuracy. No one really misses
them, least of all me!

And finally, you probably will need more than 2 hours. I am doing
a similar party this weekend and I have put aside 3 hours (that's
my minimum anyway) and that might even run over the allotment.

have fun and let us know how it goes and what you learned from
the experience.
