Harquus is a general term for facial adornment practiced by women from
northernmost Persia, across the Levant, the Arabia penninsula, and
North Africa.
Harquus includes tattooing, black long-lasting paint, and other
paints. The patterns and placement are similar to identical in each
media.
These patterns have been practiced since at least 3000 BCE,
continuously, originating on the eastern coastline of the
Mediterranean.
It is best known as a facial adornment on Imazigh women, though it is
actually very geographically widespread.

When well done ... it's very sexy! Its one of my favorite obsessions
... I've collected over 1,000 indigenous patterns, and can rant on for
days on the history and traditons! I love it!
