hello everybody, its been awhile since I wrote, I have been on the
road for several weeks now and have to pay for my internet playing by
the hour. Just wanted to let you know i struck a (small) blow
against black henna. First night in athens found a couple of guys
doing black henna in the plaka. chatted with them, showed them my
henna pix and told them what they were doing was dangerous. they
were two really sweet guys from serbia just trying to make a living
and had been doing henna for only a few months. ended up getting
together with them and in spite of the language barrier & waving my
arms around a lot, I mixed upu a batch of real henna (I think they
had never seen it) and showed them what it was all about. result:
converts to real henna & promise not to use the black henna again! i
know it was sincere because i ran into them later at another street
stand selling other stuff and they smiled and said "no black henna!"
Went to the National Archeological Museum and spent a day peering at
pottery from cycladic, mycenae, tirins, all of course keeping our
craft in mind and honestly did not see much in the way that would
encourage me to think it was common but I did look at a lot of
suspicious looking little bowls, sticks with flattened ends, etc.
described as "cosmetic" bowls. saw lots of goddesses though!
anyway, i'll be back in the US in november and will be writing again
more frequently.
hello to Anne! I miss you!
love & kisses to all,
Kree
PS re Egypt Reporter -- bad people for plagiarizing Catherine &
Kenzi -- but cool henna'd guitar!!!
