When I do face painting and henna at fairs we usually have small
children planting their faces as closely as possible to our hands
while we're working, extremely adorable. However, I never thought
we'd have the same problem with a horse at a Renaissance Faire.

Our table was set up next to the horse/pony rides, which is perfect
because it attracts lots of kids, and I love horses. We usually
paint/henna the horse owners for free as advertising. One day I had
one of the owners sitting on my stool as I'm working when her horse
plants her very large face in between me and her owner and looks
right at me.

The girl assured me that her horse was just very attached to her and
wanted to know what I was doing. She gently moved the horse's head
out of the way and I kept working. Immediately the horse put her face
in the way again and bumped my hand with her nose. After several
minutes of this, and both of us talking to the horse, we decided to
just give the horse a sample of the face paint (non toxic) so she
would know it was safe. Several dots later the horse was happy, the
owner was painted and all was right with the world.

They walked off from our table with the horse following her owner
like a puppy without having to be lead. Now that's love.

Kids and animals, you just can't beat 'em.

Happy Henna-ing
Linda
