You might experiment with "terp" oils, see the link below for more
information on them. They've shown to give henna a boost in darkening
powers, but I would recommend a lot of personal experimentation on
yourself and friends before you take it to a large public setting.

Go with what you know will give you the best results - fresh fresh
henna mixed right before the event, so it's had time to cure, and
stress to people the importance of aftercare. I've found one good way
to get people to keep their henna on is to *beat* it into their heads
that "the longer it's on, the darker and longer lasting your stain
will be." A rough guide I tell people is you can approximate the
number of hours you leave the henna on is about how many days you can
expect in to last, up to about the 12 hour mark. After that, it won't
make much difference. But that encourages them to leave it on for 6-8
hours, instead of 1-3.
