Age?

I have read that henna should only be applied to people aged 6 and older? What is the reason behind this? Also, do ear lobes take henna well? Last question - I live in a small city in Manitoba, Canada, and I've spent half of today trying to find mustard oil, with no luck. Any suggestions?
