Different people have different perceptions of scent. Some people
love the smell of henna on skin. Some loathe it. If you don't like
the smell, put some essential oil of a fragrance you do like into your
paste, and then you'll smell that rather than the henna scent on your
skin. There have been some very interesting recipes that scent henna
on the forum....and in medieval Persia, there was a facinating and
complex henna art that involved perfuming the henna!

I don't think the heat was the problem at all.

Is there someone near you familiar with the scent of henna that could
sniff you for comparison?
