: I can't resist the promise of ever darker stains, but I already have so : much. I'm already wondering what to do with the older stuff that is : merely very good. Someone help me. I need a 12-step program. Why not make a batch of the dark stuff and a batch of the lower-quality stuff, and make two-toned designs? That would be a one-step program, rather than the two-step version of making a dark design (overnight) and then filling in lighter highlights with an hour-or-two application? 12-step programs are only for things you actually want to be cured of. Seems to me getting INTO henna is more like twelve steps. (One: try it yourself on someplace that won't be seen. Two: do something more visible. Three: do up some friends. Four: do up more friends and maybe a relative or two. Five: do up some strangers. Six: take your fading pattern and turn it into something else with a new application. Seven: get obsessed with history and cultural usage. Eight: do side-by-side tests for quality and to see for yourself how the color varies with skin; experiment with "black" or read and decide not to. Nine: (deleted for GP-rating) Ten: spend way more than you can afford on all sorts of extras and gear. Eleven: start a business. Twelve: Assess the obsession to determine that, though now permanently entangled in your life, it is not detrimental. Okay, so I've missed the in-between parts like networking and spending lots of time online and in libraries and bookstores. Also, these steps are not really in order. Does anyone know a more typical order, or care to adapt? I'd love to see what a typical sequence is, if such exists.
