Bad henna?

I bought henna powder from an oriental food market and when I got home
I started to make the henna paste. I followedd the directions from
your web site. I did the dried lemon thing. When I started to mix
the powder with the lemon water solution the paste became green. It
smelled like spinach. It didn't smell like henna. When I used henna
last it was a orange/brown color and it smelled very different and not
like spinach. Do you think I did something wrong or could it be the
henna. Maybe it wasn't henna. On the box it read: DULHAN-Mehendi
Deluxe Heena Powder. I believe it was made in India. Please e-mail me
