Hi, I got a black henna tattoo (stupid me!) on March 7, 2000. It was fine for two weeks and then on the 19th of March as the henna faded away, the design got red and puffy, no blisters or anything like the pictures I have seen on this site, but it was raised off of my normal skin. After two different doctors, my dermatologist prescribed something for an allergic reaction. He says I am allergic to the dye in the henna. Now, March 28, after days of medication, the design has gone down considerably, and is less red, but it is still very noticable. My question is will it go away or will I always have a faint design on my stomach? I do think that the people who work with Black Henna have to do more than just ask if you have any allergy's because I had never had a reaction like this to anything that I have ever done! Not to say that people shouldn't use black henna, but it needs to be made more obvious that there are people who are allergic to it.
