: A few questions I have are:
: 1)Are these rashes normal with a 100% natural henna ink?

Natural henna powder or paste (it isn't an ink as such) does *not*
cause rashes like this. To my knowledge, there have only been one or
two recorded cases *ever* of a reaction to pure henna, both from
India where it is in very widespread use. All other claimed reactions
to henna have either been caused by other additives, or by confusion
with "black henna" containing PPD.

: 2)What are the chances that I have a 100% natural black henna ink?
(It comes from Egypt) Thanks for your help!

It doesn't matter whether it is natural or not - Deadly Nightshade is
natural! The fact remains that, what ever it is, it is causing
reactions at an unacceptably high rate. I am astonished and shocked
that you are still using this product at all. You say "In a few cases
the rash breaks open" - how many people have you applied this stuff
to since it started to cause rashes????

What concerns me is that, if your lab report is to be believed (and
full credit to you for getting the lab test done), then someone has
come up with a product which passes a PPD test, but still gives bad
reactions. The henna community needs to know what this new product is
called and how to recognise it.

The other possibility is that the lab test was flawed and the product
does contain PPD. Could you send a sample of the product to me for
testing here at Oxford? I work in the Biochem dept, you see. My
address is on http://www.hennapage.com/henna/friends.html#friends

Please stop using this product.
