Another trick is to use an eyebrow pencil to mark the general area of your design, the parameters, the outlines or the limits...something to help you keep track of where you are as you twist and coil yourself to do the design. I agree that doing one part and letting it dry is a good idea. You don't have to let it dry completely but at least until the surface of the paste is matte. There shouldn't be too much difference in the color if you leave it all on overnight. You might want to apply some heat to the areas you do last just to help it along. You could also take the paste off the next day in the order you put it on, leaving a half hour between sections (tho I doubt that will make much of a difference).
