Peeling design with pre-mix?

Last year, I bought some pre-mixed henna that the guy at the Indo-Pak
grovery said was mixed up just for Eid and wasn't available the rest
of the year. It was in a cone printed in Urdu and smelled slightly
odd but not bad. I went in a few weeks ago and he had some of this
year's batch left, so I bought two cones. This year, they are
packaged in a larer, harder plastic cone printed in English with the
smaller Urdu cone inside, but I digress. After reading the posts on
this list, I think that the smell I couldn't identify was some sort
of mild terpinol. It stained my fingers and the back of my hand a
good, promising orange after only about an hour. The next day, it
had turned a flat, dull but dark brown. This happened last time,
only I had left it on longer. Anyway, it was dark for a couple days,
then, just like last time, it began to flake off. It's like the
henna only stained the very top layer of skin, and caused it to
exfoliate even faster. It's not as bad as last year, when I could
actually peel the design off. Where the dark has come off is alight
brown that looks like what the stuff I sell looks like at about four
weeks, and it's not been five days yet. Does the terpinol peel for
everyone?
by the way, this pic is of a pre-mix, but not the one I used in the
above post. I wanted something to show the approximate color I got.
