Interesting question. It all depends which part of the walnut is causing the allergy. I have nut allergy (fortunately just contact swelling, not the life-threatening variety), so I can't touch peanuts, for example. Yet I am fine with peanut oil. So I guess if the part of the walnut which dyes the skin is the part to which he is allergic then, yes you might have a problem. Certainly nut allergy sufferers can react to extremely small quantities of the allergen. A relative of mine reacted to a piece of cellophane which had previously touched a nut. Personally, I'd recommend steering clear of walnut extract from now on.
