Quick staining henna

I sometimes do henna at parties and nightclubs, the sort of places
where it is not possible to let the paste set for hours.

Does anyone have a recipe that stains really quickly? I like the
Mehndi Mud paste (the only pre-mix I'll use), but my next gig is
coming up too soon to place an order.
Also, a while back I had a henna tattoo done at a place in NYC. The
henna the woman used was like nothing I've ever seen before, or have
seen since. When it dried it peeled off almost in one piece, the dried
paste was flaky rather than crumbly. It stained very dark and I only
had to leave it on for about an hour.The artist applied it in the
normal fashion (plastic cone).

Any idea what this might have been?
