: But imagine my surprise to find that I too have been ripped off by
: BLUE LOTUS henna. They used one of my personal graphics (a picture
: based on some Arabic lettering a friend wrote for me) as a
: background to their home page (it used to be the background on one
: of my pages). I wrote to them over a week ago asking them to credit
: me and provide a link to my page or remove it and they have not
: dignified me with a response.

I'm not familiar with the Blue Lotus site, but if they're based in the
USA, they're subject to the DMCA (Digital Millenium Copyright Act). In
short, if they don't respond, you can lodge a complaint with their
ISP...look up their ISP's Terms and AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) and
contact them. The ISP is supposed to pull the plug on their site if
you can provide evidence of the copyright violation. While I strongly
disagree with this law (ISPs shouldn't have to do the police's job for
them, and there's the issue of yanking someone's website based on
someone filing a complaint which hasn't been proven in court), but
that's the current law. See the link below if you like legalese.
